Known for their black hooves, or pata negra, the Iberian hogs raised in Zafra, Extremadura are yet another example of the region’s harmony with nature. These animals live in and contribute to the local ecosystem, freely ranging and feeding on acorns, of which they eat nearly 9 kilograms daily. In three months, they are able to gain more than 90 kilograms, reaching and even exceeding 180 kilograms. The hams are then treated with an age-old layering and curing technique, overseen with care to achieve the finest quality. The outcome is a luscious, tender jamón with a delicate sweetness and a velvety finish, made from the hind leg, still bone-in, and celebrated for its remarkable quality.

About the product

Subtle and nuanced, La Prudencia Jamón Ibérico Bellota reveals the full spectrum of countryside flavour with each bite. The ham is made from black Ibérico pigs that are 100% acorn fed. Each ham is a full story—a tale of nourishing, the care with which it is salted, and the patience of the aging, which lasts up to 52 months in traditional cellars and natural drying rooms.

Simplicity is a fine companion to this delicacy. A slice is exquisite on its own and is further elevated when paired with tomato-rubbed bread brushed with olive oil or with the classic Bocadillo de Jamón y Queso.
